    Published on

Citi announced the appointment of Gabriel Apostol as Head of Global Network Banking for Romania. In this role, Gabriel Apostol will lead the growth of Citi’s business serving large and mid-sized multinational companies operating in Romania. He is a member of the country management committee of Citi Romania, supporting the execution of Citi’s overall business strategy.

In line with Citi’s strategy of being the preeminent banking partner for institutions with cross-border needs, the Global Network Banking business serves the needs of clients with global ambitions, who are looking to access new markets and grow. The Global Network Banking team works with clients across a wide variety of industries, supporting them with the bank’s full suite of products, including cash management, trade solutions or lending.

“As a leading global bank, we continue to use our resources and expertise to help our clients and communities solve the big challenges they wrestle with every day, including in energy, sustainable finance, infrastructure or supply chain resiliency. Our strategy is to continue deepening existing relationships, while also adding new names. We are doing this by helping clients become more efficient, more digital and more resilient. Also, we see a continuous flow of new multinationals investing in Romania and we are often the bank of choice for them, given our global track record combined with our strong local capabilities. I am confident that Gabriel Apostol’s vast experience and client focus will continue helping Citi turn banking into an enabler of our clients’ progress”, said Samir Karia, Citi Country Officer for Romania, on the appointment.

Gabriel Apostol has more than 27 years’ experience in the banking sector, with the last 20 being spent at Citi in various corporate banking roles, most recently as a Senior Banker for a portfolio of multinational clients. Previously, he was a Regional Commercial Director at BRD – Groupe Société Générale, after having covered multiple roles in credit and relationship management.
