Rompetrol Rafinare completed the planned turnaround of the Petromidia Năvodari and Vega Ploiești refineries

    Published on

Rompetrol Rafinare has successfully completed the mechanical works included in the planned turnaround of the two operated refineries – Petromidia Năvodari and Vega Ploiești. In the coming days, the refineries will return to optimal capacity, a process that is very important and carried out in stages, in full compliance with all safety and workplace security standards.

The turnaround involved more than 700 specific maintenance works, catalyst replacement in six main units, checks on around 900 pieces of equipment (static, dynamic, and electrical), and inspections and testing of nearly 1,200 pipelines.

Another objective successfully completed during the turnaround was the recertification and extension of operating authorizations from the competent authorities – ISCIR and CNCIR. We appreciate the constant support of the authorities, which facilitated the completion of the works within the company’s estimated timeframe.

The works were carried out with the support of over 2,500 people – specialists from within the company, the general contractor (Rominserv), and the 45 involved companies, all with extensive experience in the field.

Thus, the refineries operated by Rompetrol Rafinare will soon resume their efforts to supply petroleum products, helping stabilize the national market in a challenging context for both producers and consumers.

The technological shutdown was carried out according to a precise schedule, with general turnarounds planned at 4-year intervals and intermediate shutdowns at 2-year intervals. These turnarounds are absolutely necessary to ensure safe operation, the continuity of technological processes, and environmental protection.

The significant shareholders of Rompetrol Rafinare SA are KMG International (54.63% – direct and indirect) and the Romanian State through the Ministry of Energy (44.7%).
