BIPA, the drugstore retail brand of the German REWE Group, has officially entered the Romanian market with the opening of its first store, located in Mega Mall Bucharest.

The first Romanian store of the Austrian brand spans approximately 370 square meters, is staffed by a team of 14 employees, and is open daily from Monday to Sunday between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM.

The store’s portfolio includes more than 13,000 products across beauty, personal care, and health, and household categories, as well as over 25 well-known makeup brands and the private label Look by BIPA.

BIPA is also launching more than 1,500 products under its own brands, including BI CARE, BI LIFE, BI KiDS, BI STYLED, BI HOME, BABYWELL, LOOK BY BIPA, and BI GOOD.

“The opening of our first BIPA store in Romania represents an important milestone for us and a strategic step in the company’s international expansion. We aim to offer Romanian consumers a modern drugstore concept with a wide product range, affordable prices, and reliable private labels tailored to their daily needs,” said Martin Gaber, CEO of BIPA Romania.

Following the launch of the Mega Mall store, BIPA plans to continue its expansion in the local market. Starting in 2026, the company intends to open between 20 and 25 stores per year. Romania becomes the third country in the brand’s international expansion strategy, after Austria and Croatia.

With 45 years of experience in drugstore retail, BIPA is currently the market leader in Austria and a key player in Croatia, serving approximately 3.3 million loyal customers. In 2025, the company surpassed €1 billion in turnover in Austria and Croatia, supported by steady and consistent growth in recent years.
