The 2026 edition of the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB) ended on Thursday, March 12, at the Palace of Parliament, after three days of conferences, debates and sessions dedicated to digital transformation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology and digital education.
Organized by the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, under the High Patronage of the President of the Chamber of Deputies and the Government of Romania, the event brought together representatives of public institutions, academia, the private sector and international organizations, providing a framework for dialogue on the challenges and opportunities generated by new technologies.
The first day of the summit was dedicated to the 9th edition of the Critical Infrastructure Protection Forum (CIP Forum), held under the theme “Dual-Use Innovation for Resilient Critical Infrastructure”.
The discussions addressed the role of emerging technologies in strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructures, in an international context marked by security challenges and accelerated technological transformations. The opening session brought together representatives of the Romanian Government, Parliament, regulatory authorities and cybersecurity institutions, along with international experts and institutional partners.
The second day of the summit was dedicated to the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, Resilience and Development”, analyzing the impact of artificial intelligence on society, the economy and public administration. The debates included sessions on media resilience in the era of deepfake and generative AI, smart local governance and the use of emerging technologies for community development. The event also saw the launch of the 2026 edition of the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Index, as well as sessions dedicated to the role of artificial intelligence in the economy and in the development of society.
The third day of the summit included the 5th edition of the International Conference on Cyber Diplomacy (ICCD) and the 2nd edition of the Blockchain Intelligence Forum, with debates on international cooperation in the digital field, the role of cyber diplomacy in managing regional conflicts, and the impact of blockchain technologies on financial transparency and economic investigations.
The agenda was completed by sessions dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence on education and the energy sector, as well as the online holding of the International Conference on Virtual Learning (ICVL) – 21st edition and the National Conference on Virtual Learning (CNIV) – 24th edition. “Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest has become an important platform for dialogue and cooperation between institutions, experts and international partners, in a context in which technology increasingly influences economic development, security and the functioning of public administration.
Through this edition, we aimed to facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen collaboration in areas essential for digital transformation,” said Dr. Eng. Through the themes addressed and the participation of officials and experts from Romania and abroad, Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest 2026 highlighted the importance of international cooperation and interdisciplinary dialogue in the development of responsible and sustainable technological solutions.
