Constanta Mayor’s brother in corruption charge
March 2010 - From the Print Edition
Social Democratic (PSD) Senator Alexandru Mazare, brother of Constanta Mayor Radu Mazare, has been indicted by anti-corruption prosecutors for illegal use of his public position. Alexandru Mazare allegedly asked his party colleague, Senator Catalin Voicu, to tamper in a verdict in favour of Constanta City Hall employees in a corruption case. The public servants were sent to court by the National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) and sentenced to prison, but Constanta Court of Appeal acquitted them, allegedly because of Alexandru Mazare’s intervention. The case is under investigation by the DNA.
