Romanian transporters criticize taxi dispatch project to be implemented by Bucharest Municipality
Romanian Confederation of Authorized Transporters and Operators (COTAR), an important organization in the road transport sector, announced today that totally disagrees the establishment of a centralized shared taxi dispatch to be operated by the Bucharest City Hall, which is said to be a form of nationalization of private businesses operating legally. 2017-02-27 11:35:25
"The establishment of a centralized dispatch is not appropriate for taxi drivers in Bucharest and will not solve the problem of piracy," a press release issued by COTAR shows. "It is a form of nationalization of our private businesses which will generate chaos in the market in which we operate and
about 1,200 employees will be laid off".
Big taxi companies currently have their own dispatch centres and customers can order a taxi through various free apps from their smartphones. COTAR says that this centralized taxi dispatch project proposed by the Bucharest Municipality will ruin all private taxi companies that run legally in Bucharest.
