The first automated bike sharing stations launched in Bucharest

The first automated I′Velo Urban bike-sharing stations have been launched in Bucharest by Green Revolution association. Even the bike-sharing service is not new in Bucharest, the novelty of this service is the possibility for the riders to borrow the bikes by themselves and use them for free for 30 minutes. If the riders want to use the bikes for a larger interval, several lending price ranges have been set, daily, monthly and yearly subscriptions included. Also, the bikes can be borrowed using a card that can be purchased by presenting an ID card to one of the I′Velo centers in two central parks in Bucharest, Herastrau and Tinererului. According to Corneliu Belciug, programme director of Green Revolution association, currently, the pilot prohect of this programme runs six stations totalling 120 bicycles. If the project will prove itself a success, the number of the stations will be increased in the spring of 2017. The six stations where the riders can borrow a bike are located at Piata Universitatii, Piata Revolutiei, Piata Romana, Piața Victoriei, Piața Charles de Gaulle and Kaufland Barbu Vacarescu.
