INS: Romanian primary energy resources up by 2 per cent, electric energy up by 7.8 per cent in 2015

Romanian main primary energy resources increased by 2pct year-on-year to 32.873 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), and electric energy resources by 7.8pct YOY to 69.373 billion KWh in 2015, accordin to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Domestic production of energy totalled over 22.04 million toe, up by 163,900 toe year-on-year, and imports totalled 10.831 million toe.

Electricity production in thermal power stations stood at 28.239 billion KWh, up by 1.646 billion KWh (6.2pct YOY); in hydroelectric power stations at 16.687 billion KWh, down by 2.311 billion kWh (12.2pct); in nuclear electric power stations at 11.640 billion KWh, down by 35.8 million kW (-0,3%); in wind power stations at 7.045 billion KWh, up by 2.321 billion KWh; and in photovoltaic installations at 1.987 billion KWh, up by 692.1 million KWh.

The total electric energy consumption stood at approximately 52.565 billion KWh, 6pct higher YOY, with public lighting recording a 30.6pct increase, and population consumption a 3.7pct increase. Electricity exports amounted to over 10.503 billion KWh, up by 2.303 billion KWh. The own technological consumption in networks and stations amounted to 6.304 billion KWh, down by 245.4 million KWh.
