Opening of the 4th Internet Mobile World 2015 exhibition at Romexpo
The implementation of the Digital Agenda will result in 2 per cent growth of the jobs in research and development, Minister for the Information Society Sorin Mihai Grindeanu said on Wednesday in the opening conference of the 4th Internet Mobile&World 2015 exhibition at Romexpo, Bucharest's main fair venue. 2015-10-08 10:29:01
"We, Romanians, are very good at the IT&C sector, even if ′the brain drain′ has somehow started from Romania. As far as innovation, start-ups and clusters mean, the Digital Agenda for Romania 2020 includes, on three levels, chapters dedicated to e-commerce and to research and development in IT&C. I believe that the state should get more involved in this sector, and to this effect the period of applications for project dedicated to innovation clusters begins early in November. Just the application in this research and development field, in the financing guide, will bring by 2020 an 3pct increase of the gross domestic product and 2pct more jobs," Grindeanu declared.
The Government has endorsed in April the National Strategy on the Digital Agenda for Romania - 2020, a document aiming directly at the IT&C sector, to contribute to the economic development and increase of Romania′s competitiveness.
The document provides that the number of the employees in the information technology and communications sector could reach 250,000 over the next six years in Romania, and the necessary total investment will exceed 3.9 billion Euro.
The direct and indirect impact upon economy, calculated in accordance with the good practices in other European countries that have made similar investments, could be a 13pct growth of the GDP, a 11pct increase of the jobs and a curtailment by 12pct of the administration′s costs in 2014 - 2020.
The following fields are considered: e-Governance, inter-operability, cyber security, cloud computing, open data, big data and social media; IT&C in education, health care, culture and e-inclusion; e-commerce, research, development and innovation in IT&C; broadband and digital infrastructure services. The document was approved by 10 ministries.
