COFACE: Number of Romanian companies in CEE Top 500, up to 59; Romania ranked 4th in CEE
Romania is ranked fourth, after Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, in terms of the number of companies included in the top 500 companies in Central and Eastern Europe-Coface CEE Top 500 ranking. 2015-09-03 10:09:12
In the 2014 edition of the Coface CEE Top 500 ranking, Romania is represented by 59 companies, compared with 56 in 2013. The ranking leader, Poland, is represented by 176 companies, down from 177 in 2013; Hungary is represented by 73 companies (compared with 70 in 2013) and the Czech Republic is represented by 65 companies, up from 59 in 2013.
In 2014, the biggest economic player in CEE was PKN Orlen Polish oil group, with a 25 billion euro turnover. In comparison, the biggest economic players of Romania were Automobile Dacia, ranked 16th in the Coface CEE Top 500 ranking, with a 4.2 billion euro turnover, and OMV Petrom, ranked 22nd, with a 3.68 billion euro turnover (down 8.6 percent). According to Coface, the CEE Top 500 companies generated a turnover worth 572 billion euros in 2014, which exceeds even of the nominal aggregate GDP of these economies.
This is the sixth edition of the study regarding the biggest 500 companies in Central and Eastern Europe-Coface CEE Top 500 ranking. It ranks companies by turnover and analyses important factors, such as the number of employees, the business environment, the sectors and markets where they operate.
