Population recycled 55 per cent more due to the investments in the industry

According to Sorin Cristian Popescu, general manager of Eco-Rom Ambalaje, the recycled volumes registered a significant advance due to the efficiency recycling system and the investments worth more than 10 million lei in developing the recycling industry and equipments.
Following the investments, the national coverage for the selective recycling of packaging waste extended from 464 cities in 2013 to 527 cities at the end of 2014. Currently, half of Romanian population, representing 9.4 million people can use the system implemented by Eco-Rom. Also, in 2014, the company offered the infrastructure for recycled volumes of over 370,000 tons of packaging waste provided by households and commercial and industrial fields. The volume stands for 60 per cent of the overall packaging, representing over 623,000 tons.
