Infrastructure deliveries status this year: less than half compared to 2013

The amount launched this year comprised the first segment of 22.2 km and another segment of six km of the Nadlac-Arad highway, six km from the second lot of the Timisoara-Lugoj highway and the third lot of 22.1 km from the Orastie-Sibiu highway. In 2013, 116.07 km was opened to traffic. Currently, Romania contains 646.07 km of motorways. According to a recently published study by PwC, expenses for infrastructure in Romania will grow by five per cent until 2025, more rapidly than in Western Europe, but slower than the global rate, with the total amount allocated reaching 30 billion USD by 2025. Investments in road infrastructure, partly supported by European funds, will continue to be the main expense for investments in transport infrastructure with an increase from 4.5 billion USD in 2013 to 9 billion dollars in 2025, the PwC study stated.
