Hungarian investor puts 7 million Euro in hotel refurbishment at Sovata

The Hungarian group Danubius Hotels allocated funds of 7 million euro for the modernization of Bradet Hotel in Sovata, Mures county.The unit is included in the luxury category, four stars and was renamed Danubius Health Spa Resort Bradet. Thus, the hotel, previously classified as two stars, entered the market of spa tourism, wellness and spa of Romania.

The touristic unit owned by Danubius Hotels Group in Sovata has also Hotel Danubius Health Spa Resort Sovata of four star and Hotel Faget of two star. The three hotels of the group have 400 double rooms (1,000 accommodation places). Danubius Hotels Group is the biggest spa services provided in Central Europe with a portfolio of 56 hotels, in Hungary, the UK, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania. According to the most recent report of the group, in Q1, Danubius had on the Romanian market net income of 2.3 million euro, growing by 6 per cent against the similar period of last year.

"The increase of income comes from the increase by 5 per cent of the average tariff per room at 137 lei, from 130 lei, partially as a result of the renovation of the hotel Bradet," the report says.

During the analyzed period, the degree of occupancy increased to 52.7 per cent from 49.1 per cent in the first six months of last year, although there were 4 per cent fewer rooms available as a result of the renovation works. The operational losses of the company cost 300,000 euro, up from 200,000 Euro during the first six months of last year.
