Orange Romania reports revenues of 448 million in H1

The French telecommunication company reported revenues close to 450 million Euro for Romanian branch operation, due to the increase of company clients with 154,000 to 10.2 million and the reduction of interconnection costs.

The revenues are similar to the same interval of previous year, the mobile operator release shows. However, the revenue for Orange Romania has decreased by 0.6 per cent from EUR 452 million in the first half of last year, reaching EUR 449 million, slightly going up in the second quarter by 0.2 per cent from EUR 230 million. Company representatives have stated that the company's revenue for the second quarter has increased by 3.8 per cent, if the effect of cutting down interconnection costs non-included.

According to the financial report presented by the French Orange Group, Orange Romania had 10.2 million clients at the end of June, compared to 10.283 million at the end of last year. "There is a user tendency to migrate from prepaid cards to mobile phone subscriptions. In the last twelve months, the number of subscribers has increased by over 6 per cent," the Orange press release notes.

Moreover, the mobile telephone internet traffic within the Orange network is 90 per cent higher than the value registered during the same period of last year; this is most likely linked to the reported sales in smartphones and the development of mobile phone software and services provided.
