Carlos Tavares takes over the CEO responsibilities for Peugeot
Carlos Tavares, 55 year old, the former chief operational officer (COO) of Renault has been appointed as CEO for French car maker Peugeot, according to Bloomberg, quoting sources close to the matter. 2013-11-25 14:40:02
The GM of PSA Peugeot Citroen, Philippe Varin is to be retired next year and he will be replaced by Carlos Tavares, the former COO of Renault. At this stage, Tavares will back up Varin, 61 years old as the company focuses on expanding the contract with Chinese group Dongfeng Motor, according to Bloomberg. PSA Peugeot Citroen reported an operational loss of EUR 150 million at half year in 2013, according to data on the market. Tavares quit Peugeot in late August this year. Varin occupies the CEO chair of Peugeot since 2009 and managed the company's plan to reduce costs, layoff of 11.200 employees and shut down an automotive plant near Paris.
