Cora hypermarket launches gastronomy site

Cora retailer controlled by Belgian-French group Louis Delhaize announced it launched corachef.ro, a gastronomy site run by the company displaying eight categories of receipts.

The company release states that Philippe Lejeune, the GM of cora local operations is passionate of gastronomy and cooking as the company new project comes as a natural move in this direction.

According to Lejeune, cooking represents a passion to be shared and the new platform addresses the hypermarket customers willing to explore the gastronomy secrets of Cora chefs. The project comes in line with a multitude of online new projects developed recently by Cora. In December, the retailer will launch the online platform coradrive, which enables customers to place the shopping order online and get to the store for their ready to go products.

cora Romania operates locally 12 hypermarkets out of which four are located in Bucharest and einght in cities such as Ploiesti, Cluj Napoca, Baia Mare, Arad, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Constanta and Bacau. For 2014, the retailer plans to launch two projects, a new hypermarket in Bucharest within Victoria City commercial center and a store at Brasov. In 2012, cora achieved a turnover of EUR 359 million, a 6 percent advance compared with 2011. In the analyzed interval, the company profit dropped to EUR 5 .5 million, 38.5 percent down compared with 2011, in the context of new investments for the new hypermarket openings.
