World Energy Council launches the report on natural gas resources from unconventional deposits in Romania
Romanian National Committee of World Energy Council (WEC) held recently a press conference dedicated to the launch of the report "Resources of natural gas from unconventional deposits - potential and capitalization" (prepared at the initiative of CNR - CME). 2013-11-19 13:16:25
The event hosted members of academic environment, Parliament, Government, business, NGOs and mass media. The study has been developed by 43 specialists delivering vast experience in oil and gas industry as well as geo science. It delivered over 500 bibliographic titles and revealed results concluded by experts in the oil and gas industry. Romania has an experience of over 150 years in the oil industry, namely the 100 years of natural gas. This study aimed at disclosing the evaluation of geological perspectives of the main oil and gas deposits on Romanian territory, presentation of the currently available exploration and exploitation technologies for non-conventional hydrocarbons, impact on environment and the main economic, social and political benefits of these operations.
The study concluded that Romania delivers the necessary conditions for developing in depth and extension of existing deposits and the new exploration and exploitation technologies reduce the risk of technical accidents by constantly measuring and monitoring the impact on environment. One of the main conclusions of this study reveals the benefit of energy independence by exploiting the current deposits of oil and gas on Romanian territory.
The event benefits from the presence of Rodin Traicu, Deputy for industries and Services Comission, Mihai Albulescu, State Secretary for Ministry of Economy, Corneliu Condrea, general manager of Energy Resources Directorate of Ministry of Economy and Niculae Napoleon Antonescu, coordinator of CENTGAS.
