Fall of seven percent in energy consumption expected by yearend
ANRE, the National Authority of Regulating in the Field of Energy estimates the national gross energy consumption to fall by 7 percent by yearend, compared with 2012, due to the overall recession and economic dismantling of large consumers in Romania. 2013-10-25 09:05:09
The authority representatives said that the challenge is to balance the affordability of bills and maintaining the labor volume facing the interests of large consumers for which the smallest increase of the energy bills represents a significant change. Also, another insight of the local energy market is given by conventional power producers since the energy produced from renewable resources is the first to be taken over within the national energy system of Transelectrica. For Romania, the energy remains the main competitive resource in Europe and, within the next 3 to 5 years, the investments should strongly move towards renewable energy, the ANRE officials stated.
