German investments: Willkommen in Romania!
Amid the current economic turmoil, German investors seem to prefer expanding their existing business on the local market to investing in greenfield projects. Nevertheless, Germany has been Romania's biggest commercial partner since 2007, with the bilateral trade value reaching almost EUR 18 billion last year. In 2011, Romania and Germany celebrated 130 years of diplomatic relations, while 2012 marked the 20th anniversary of the German-Romanian Friendship Treaty, designed to support the autochthonous German community in Romania.
