Exclusive    NetCity to complete the installation of underground optic fiber by yearend

Bucharestís underground fiber optic network developed by NetCity Telecom, the managing company which have been established within UTI Group, will be completed by yearend, according to Adrian Florea, CEO of NetCity Telecom.

February 2012

With 65 percent of the project being put into place so far, the workings for the remaining stock will start in March or April, as soon as the weather conditions will permit. So far, the company wired 10,000 buildings in Bucharest and installed 3,000 cables. The total project totals 850 km of distribution channels, of which Netcity covered so far 550 km. According to the official of NetCity Telecom, the project could extend to another development stage toward the metropolitan area of Bucharest, but the case is a remote opportunity and directly link to the municipality projects in this respect. As Adrian Florea told the Diplomat-Bucharest, the area of Historical Center of Bucharest was a difficult area for the project, managing to wire 60-70 percent from the existing buildings located in that area so far. The company relies on the municipalityís street rehabilitation workings in the area, with only 6-7 streets completed so far. Also, the residential complex zones are a challenge for Net City, due to the lack of correspondence between the recent residential developments and their inexistent cadastral registration.
