Campofrio sold two farms from Romania for EUR 2.5 million
Spanish group Campofrio, one of the largest European producers of meat, sold the last year two pig farms in the county of Constanta for EUR 2.5 million to Danish Group DHC International. March 2012
"The transaction included the farms controlled by Campofrio Sibioara and Fantanele and the value was about EUR 2.5 million. “At that time farms were not populated with animals. Now the farm have 3,000 sows and 7,000 piglets and 7,000 other pigs, "said Dorin Martin,CEO of Degaro, a company acquired by the Danish group. The Spanish abandoned animal business in the local market while the turnover of farms decreased at EUR 0.2 million in 2008-2010. This business, during this period amounted losses of EUR 1.3 million and debts of other EUR 3.9 million. Spanish from Campofrio still remain engaged in business in Romania through the partnership they have with Lebanon family in El Solh in Caroli Foods Group, one of the top ten players in the local sausage market.
