Hilton sends its brands countrywide

BRASOV AND ORADEA US-owned Hilton Group is introducing a blitz of hotel brands across Romania

December 2009 - From the Print Edition

The group will bring the mid-market Hampton brand to Romania by the end of 2011, as a new-build hotel opens in Brasov in a project developed by Future Invest, a firm made from Romanian and UK investors.
Located four kilometres from the centre of Brasov, the new-build hotel will have 104 rooms.
In addition, Hilton’s Doubletree hotel will open in Oradea in September 2010 in a management agreement with hotel owner and developer Romanian firm Calipso, owned by listed firm SIF Banat Crisana. One km outside the city centre, the hotel will include 147 bedrooms, meeting rooms for up to 350, thermal spa and swimming pool. These hotels will be the second and third directly-managed Hilton brand in Bucharest, after the five-star Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel in Bucharest. A Hilton franchise opened this year in Sibiu.
Members of the group also see Bucharest as a good potential site for the Hilton Garden Inn brand, depending on the location.
A senior member of the group confirmed it is looking to open a Hilton Garden Inn ‘shortly’ in Romania and is looking for opportunities to further expand its brands across the country.
