May 2011 - From the Print Edition
AGENCIES HIT with fine Romania’s National Authority for the Protection of Consumers (ANPC) has issued 101 fines totalling 106,000 Euro and issued 244 warnings to real estate agencies after an investigation into non-transparent deals. In total, 290 real estate operators were investigated and 12 were temporarily shut down until they corrected their deficiencies. The most important irregularities found were the lack of information about the commission owed by consumers, the differences in the commission in the actual contracts and the initial contracts drawn up by agencies and the lack of information on the legal situation of houses for sale.
