Agri-giant InterAgro pumps 70 million Euro plus into co-generation

Romanian Agricultural group InterAgro anticipates to invest 72 million Euro to construct at least four new cogeneration power plants in south Romania (Muntenia), Moldavia and Transylvania, with a total installed capacity of 81 MW, for use in its own factories InterAgro already has two cogeneration plants in Zimnicea, Teleorman county, serving the company’s bioethanol refinery. The new 20 million Euro Turnu Magurele (Teleorman county) plant with 21 MW installed power will start testing from the beginning of 2011 to service the InterAgro fertiliser factory. Other cogeneration plants include a 12 million Euro 14 MW in Bacau, a 16 million Euro 21 MW in Piatra Neamt and 14 MW 12 million Euro in Fagaras, Brasov county. The company says excess energy will be delivered on the Romania power market.
