ING Bank launches a new option that allows customers to save and invest in mutual funds simultaneously

    Published on

ING Bank Romania is launching ING Depo Invest, adding a new option that allows customers to save and invest in mutual funds simultaneously, all in one place. Available through Home’Bank, the product combines a term deposit and a mutual fund investment through a single, fully digital process. The selected amount is split equally: 50% is allocated to a term deposit with a preferential interest rate, while the remaining 50% is invested in a mutual fund chosen by the customer.

ING Bank Romania’s data shows that saving is already a well-established habit among the bank’s customers. Fifty-two percent of them hold a savings account, while approximately 500,000 customers transfer money into their savings account immediately after receiving their salary. Building on this behavior, ING Depo Invest is designed for customers who wish to allocate part of their savings to investments through mutual funds.

With ING Depo Invest, customers choose an initial amount starting from RON 2,000 or EUR 2,000. The selected amount is then split equally: 50% is allocated to a term deposit and 50% to a mutual fund selected directly through Home’Bank, either in RON or EUR.

For the RON option, half of the amount is placed in a 6-month term deposit with a preferential annual interest rate of 7%. For the EUR option, half of the amount is placed in a 3-month term deposit with a preferential annual interest rate of 2.5%. The remaining half is invested in a mutual fund chosen by the customer from the range available in Home’Bank.

As a result, customers benefit from a higher interest rate than that offered on standard term deposits while also gaining access to mutual fund investments through an integrated process within the same digital experience.

The mutual fund component is invested in a fund selected by the customer from the options available in Home’Bank, based on their financial objectives and risk profile.

“Saving is one of the most important financial habits we can develop, as it provides both security and the freedom to respond to unexpected needs. At the same time, as we think more about the future, we also focus on goals that may be many years away, whether it is supplementing our retirement income, building an additional financial reserve, or achieving other important long-term objectives. We believe these intentions are built step by step: first, you learn to save, and then you begin to explore options that can help you look further ahead. ING Depo Invest was created for this stage, offering customers a simple way to continue saving while, at the same time, discovering mutual funds directly through Home’Bank,” said Mihai Lazăr, Investments Tribe Lead, ING Bank Romania.
