Raiffeisen Bank rejoins the Bucharest Stock Exchange trading system as participant

    Published on

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) officially welcomed Raiffeisen Bank as a Participant in the Exchange’s trading system today, during an event held at the BVB headquarters.

The framework for Raiffeisen Bank, one of Romania’s leading financial institutions, to start trading as a Participant in the BVB trading system, has been in place since December 2025, when the first transactions were carried out.

Raiffeisen Bank Romania has thus relaunched their brokerage services on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and on international markets, and starting this year, customers will be able to access these services through a digital platform that will allow them to invest on regulated markets directly from their mobile phones.

Since December 2025, Raiffeisen Private Banking customers have already been able to trade shares of companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and on the most relevant international markets in Europe and the US, in RON, euros, and dollars.

Stock trading complements the existing range of investment solutions offered to Raiffeisen Private Banking’s premium clients: Capital Protected Certificates, Gold Index Certificates, Express and Bonus Certificates, Local and Foreign Investment Funds, Government Securities, and Corporate Bonds.

In 2026, Raiffeisen Bank plans to launch a digital interface for brokerage services, which will allow all customers to open investment accounts for shares directly from the mobile app, quickly and at low cost.

The digital investment app currently under implementation will allow customers to sign up from their mobile devices and will ensure that trading instructions, transaction confirmations, and holdings are received in digital format.

The application is based on a powerful back-office system for financial instruments, developed in collaboration with CTS TRADE IT software company. This solution is integrated with the banking systems and with the capital market infrastructure that are accessible through Raiffeisen Bank. The system automates the processes of brokerage enrolment, account opening, order transmission, transaction confirmation and settlement, and their reporting as well.

“By launching brokerage services on regulated markets, Raiffeisen Bank is strengthening their role as a financial partner for their customers, complementing their range of investment solutions by brokerage services on Romanian and international capital markets. The digital application already implemented by Raiffeisen Group in the Czech Republic, Croatia, and Slovakia, which will also be available in Romania this year, will ensure the smooth execution of investments under increased safe conditions,” said Cristian Sporiș, Vice President, Corporate and Investment Banking Division, member of the Board of Directors of Raiffeisen Bank Romania.

“We welcome Raiffeisen Bank, an important name in the banking system of Central and Eastern Europe, as a Participant in the Bucharest Stock Exchange trading system. Raiffeisen Bank’s presence in the national stock market ecosystem strengthens the modern and dynamic trading framework provided by the Bucharest Stock Exchange. We are pleased that Raiffeisen Bank will contribute to the development of the Exchange with the experience, professionalism, and technology it has developed, by creating multiple opportunities for both investors and companies interested in financing through the capital market,” said Remus Vulpescu, CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Raiffeisen Bank thus joins the base of companies represented by financial investment service companies and by credit institutions in Romania, as well as investment firms operating as Participants in the BVB trading system. The list of Participants operating on both BVB markets (Regulated Market and Multilateral Trading Facility) is available on the bvb.ro website, at this link.

Raiffeisen Bank has a solid history on the Romanian capital market, with its involvement dating back to 1998, when, through its subsidiary Raiffeisen Capital & Investment, the bank became a founding member of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

In addition, the Bank’s Investment Banking Department has remained active, successfully intermediating numerous bond issues as well as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions for its corporate and institutional clients.

During 2014–2018, Raiffeisen Bank held the status of BVB Participant, taken over from its subsidiary, while in parallel, starting in 2013, the bank also became active on the capital market as a bond issuer, launching a total of 10 such issues to date.

In 2021, Raiffeisen Bank marked an important milestone for both the capital market and the Romanian banking sector by listing on the Regulated Market of the Exchange the first green bond issue, with a value exceeding RON 400 million. The bank subsequently continued to issue and list new green and sustainable bonds, strengthening its position among the pioneers of sustainable financing in Romania.

Currently, Raiffeisen Bank has six bond issues traded on the BVB, with an aggregate value of RON 3.4 billion.
