Auchan and BRD launch sustainable financing package in Romania to support the sustainable transition of Auchan’s suppliers

    Published on

Auchan România and BRD – Groupe Société Générale announce the launch of a pioneering sustainable financing package exclusively for Auchan suppliers. This initiative is part of a strategic partnership aimed at supporting the decarbonization of operations and both food and non-food products.

Through this program, partner companies can access favorable financing conditions for investments in energy efficiency, electric mobility, low-carbon technologies, and solutions that reduce the consumption of natural resources. In addition, Auchan suppliers can benefit from credits tied to sustainability objectives. This initiative marks a national first, representing a unique collaboration between a retailer and a financial institution, designed to directly support companies in their transition to more sustainable business models.

The program is open to Auchan Romania’s suppliers, including SMEs, large companies, and SPVs (special purpose vehicles) from various sectors, who wish to invest in better energy efficiency solutions or develop decarbonization plans. These companies will have access to advantageous financial solutions and a network of specialized consultants who will assist them in defining objectives and measuring progress. Eligible companies can apply for a wide range of sustainable financing options covering a diverse array of investments or sustainability objectives.

This unique initiative for our suppliers comes as part of the Partners for Decarbonization Program, offering Romanian companies the opportunity to access sustainable financing under favorable conditions. The goal is to create an ecosystem where Auchan suppliers have access to financing to optimize their operations and enhance the resilience of Romanian agriculture and economy in the face of climate change. The impact of these measures will reduce carbon emissions, as well as provide an opportunity to lower costs through increased efficiency or optimized operations. I encourage Auchan suppliers to embrace this partnership with openness, as it has been specially designed for them. We thank our partners at BRD for understanding the challenges our suppliers face in this economically urgent climate context,” said Corina Dospinoiu-Imre, Sustainability Director at Auchan Romania.

We are happy to support the sustainable transition of Romanian companies through this strategic partnership with Auchan. This initiative is more than just a financing solution: it is a catalyst for the transformation of an entire ecosystem of suppliers, from producers to retailers. By supporting suppliers in making investments in low-carbon technologies and decarbonization, we contribute to building a more resilient and competitive economy. At BRD, we believe sustainability and performance go hand in hand, and we aim to be a long-term partner on this journey,” said Jean-Philippe Guillaume, Deputy CEO, BRD Groupe Société Générale.

The program also contributes to reducing long-term credit risk by implementing decarbonization plans and strengthening the resilience of participating companies. Moreover, the internal process for reviewing financing requests has been optimized for a quick response time, and involved partners will benefit from a stronger market position and value chain alignment with global environmental and sustainability objectives.
