Leroy Merlin, a retailer specializing in construction, decoration and gardening, announced that it will invest almost 28 million euros in Romania in 2025, the budget being 50 percent higher than in 2024.
10.2 million euros are allocated to new stores in Iasi and Bucharest (Pantelimon and Lujerului), 5.8 million euros for existing stores and 12 million euros for the modernization of IT systems.
The retailer ended 2024 with a turnover of 3.4 billion lei and expects an 8 percent increase this year. In 2026, Leroy Merlin wants to open 3 new stores in Bistrita, Braila and Galati.
“2025 is a year in which we accelerate investments. Network expansion, digitalization, logistics modernization and sustainability projects show our commitment to grow responsibly, for the benefit of customers, communities and the economy,” explained Mathieu Bauduin, CEO Leroy Merlin Romania.
Leroy Merlin currently has 25 stores and around 3,400 employees in Romania. By the end of 2025, the company wants to reach a total of 4,000 employees locally.
Sustainability is one of the company’s priorities. In 2024, almost 80 percent of the energy used in stores came from renewable sources, and all owned units were equipped with photovoltaic panels.
On the logistics side, Leroy Merlin currently operates over 33,000 square meters of storage space, and the company wants to add additional areas in the future to support the expansion of the network and the growth of online orders.
