     There is some debate over what constitutes a shopping mall – with many insiders believing that only a property with over 25,000 sqm in GLA can constitute a mall. The malls shown here are not exhaustive and are quite flexible in their description.
     But this is an attempt, gathered from The Diplomat's discussions with the major developers and local authorities, to try and understand the retail map of Romania today.
     Below are the malls open, those to be open in the years 2008, 2009 and 2010, those which have unclear information.

MALLS IN BUCHAREST OPEN

Location: Calea Vitan
Description: Bucuresti Mall, over 140 shops, 1,800 parking spaces, 5,000 sqm supermarket, ten screen cinema, casino
Developer: Anchor Grup (Turkey)
GLA: 37,000 sqm
Investment: 53 million Euro

Location: Blvd Timisoara
Description: Plaza Romania, 6,000 sqm supermarket, cinema, 2,400 parking spaces

Location: 2 Sos Oltenitei
Description: City Mall, 38,000 sqm, 110 stores
Developer: Jaguar Development (Israel-Greece), owned by Victoria Holding.

Location: 103 Str Bis Erou Iancu Nicolae
Description: Jolie Ville, 1,700 sqm supermarket, 456 sqm restaurants, 4,000 sqm parking lot

Location: 536-560 Blvd Iuliu Maniu, Bucharest

Location: DN1 national road between Bucharest and Otopeni
Description: Baneasa Shopping City, over 220 shops, including Peek and Cloppenburg, Zara, Zara Home, spa, family entertainment centre

Location: Aurel Vlaicu Metro, Calea Floreasca
Name: Promenada Mall, shopping centre in mixed-use Floreasca City with 1,400 parking spaces

Location: Site of Laromet, Blvd Bucuresti Noi
Description: Shopping mall
