Unilever South Central Europe takes over Betty Ice
Unilever South Central Europe and Betty Ice today announced the signing of an agreement by which Unilever South Central Europe will acquire Betty Ice, the Romanian ice cream maker. The transaction value is confidential. 2018-01-31 16:04:31
Betty Ice is the largest ice cream manufacturer in Romania, with a total turnover of 30 million Euro. The company owns a factory in Suceava and has over 180 ice cream kiosks open during the summer. Betty Ice has 760 employees in Romania.
The ice cream division of Unilever South Central Europe and Betty Ice will operate as a stand-alone company within Unilever and will be headed by Vasile Armenean as General Manager.
James Simmons, Managing Director of Unilever South Central Europe, said: "We are glad that Betty Ice will join the Unilever family. Betty Ice is a wonderful business, very much loved by Romanians. I am also delighted that Vasile Armenean has decided to join the company. He is an extraordinary entrepreneur and will have a key role in shaping the future business. "
The agreement is to be subject to the approval of the Competition Council.
