Tourist number up by 11 per cent in April

The number of tourists this April reached 808,700, up 11.5 per cent year-on-year, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) said in a release, according to Agerpres.

Romanian tourists accounted for 74.8 per cent of the total, while foreign tourists accounted for 25.2 per cent, just like in April 2016. Visitors from Europe accounted for the highest share of foreign tourists′ overnight stays in accommodation facilities (74.8 per cent of the total foreign tourists) and of these, visitors from EU countries represented 86.4 per cent.
Overnight stays in tourist accommodation facilities this April totaled 1.587 million, up by 7.9 per cent from April 2016.

Romanian tourists accounted for 74.9 per cent of the total number of overnight stays at tourist accommodation facilities, while the foreign tourists′ overnight stays were 25.1 per cent of the total. Visitors from Europe accounted for the highest share of foreign tourists′ overnight stays in accommodation facilities (73.3 per cent of the total foreign tourists) and of these, visitors from EU countries represented 85.9 per cent. The average stay in April 2017 was two days for both Romanian and foreign tourists.
The net occupancy rate for accommodation places this April was 25.1 per cent overall, by 0.8 per cent higher year-on-year.
