Sonaca to make Airbus parts in Romania following 11.5 million Euro investment
Belgian aerospace company Sonaca has opened in western Romania county Cluj a new plant that will manufacture parts for Airbus A320 aircraft, following a 52 million RON (11.5 million Euro) investment that will create over 200 jobs in the next years 2017-04-03 00:45:56 - From the Print Edition
The company received 24.1 million RON (5.3 million Euro) in state aid for this investment. The first production lines at the plant in Moldovenesti became operational in September 2016.
Alexandru Petrescu, the minister for business environment, trade and entrepreneurship, said during the official launch of the plant that Sonaca did not come to Romania for the cheap labour force.
"Sonaca has proven that it came to Romania because we have quality education in Cluj, because we offer investors stability and predictability, because we are close to the European market, thus proving that they didn't come here for the cheap labour market," said the minister, according to news.ro.
Sonaca Group is a global Belgian company active in the development, manufacturing, and assembly of advanced structures for civil, military, and space markets. The group is especially known for its wing movables expertise where it is regarded as the world leader serving most of the primes and with a market share of over 50 per cent. It has production facilities in China, Europe, North-America, and South-America and employs over 2500 people including 350 engineers.
