Changing the paradigm from cost to competitive advantage through knowledge and talent, at the 4th ABSL yearly conference

The Association of Business Service Leaders in Romania (ABSL), the leading organization representing the business services industry organized on September 29th, its 4th annual conference dedicated to the services branch.

The event, "Romania from Stardom to Value Creator. A Journey from Cost to Competitive Advantage through Knowledge and Talent", took place at Radisson Blu, in Bucharest, Romania and joined more than 500 representatives of leading business service centers in Romania and abroad, governmental and local authorities, as well as organizations supporting the growth of this industry.

The main conference and the parallel breakout sessions enjoyed the presence of high representatives of the main stakeholders of business services industry in Romania and European region, within debates and presentations covering the main aspects of the industry, CEE trends, talent management, new certifications, new skills needed, state incentives, HR trends and expectations to aspect to be considered when setting up a new business services business.

In the start of the conference, Florin Grama, President of the Board of Directors, ABSL Romania summarized the industry's status: "Romania delivers services in 25 languages, with more than 100,000 employed specialists in the industry, with an estimated yearly growth of 15-20 percent. Based on the estimated growth, the industry is likely to stand for 4-5 per cent of the country GDP by 2020."

Representing the Romanian Government, Dan Nechita, Adviser to the Prime Minister, also uttered: "Our vision is to move from cost advantage to competitive advantage.[...] We also believe that digitalisation is the key to improve and develop all the fields that are connected through businesses."

Further on the conference, Razvan Patrunoiu, Country Managing Director, Accenture Romania, underlined that "sustainable growth is the key success factor that helps clients improve their internal process."

Within the conference, from the largest companies and associations of business services, top managers and technical experts took the floor and participated to the event, representing: Think Ahead, ACCA, Colliers International, COS, FineLaw Patrascanu and Associates, Hays., Future, KPMG, Skanka, Accenture, Societe Generale European Business Services, Eucom, Microsoft, DB Schenker, CIMA, Stefanini, Vasting, TMF Group, UCMS Group.

The upcoming printed issue of Outsourcing-Today will cover the main topics discussed during the conference in November this year.
