Telus International to employ up to 550 specialists in Romania this year

Telus International will increase its headcount in Romania by more than 80 per cent this year.

2016-09-14 16:45:57

Canadian-based outsourcing company Telus International will increase its headcount in Romania by more than 80 per cent this year, reaching 1,200 team members, from 650 at the end of 2015, Yann Bidan, country director Romania at Telus International, told The Diplomat - Bucharest. The recruitments are being made in its both centres located in Bucharest and Craiova.

"If you want to grow, you need to build up your image, you need to be able to attract the talent pool and seduce it," said Bidan. "We have been working for the past three years in strengthening our image on the market. We have built a culture which stresses the caring for our people, helping them to grow and be successful. (. . .) Each year, we have been measuring the engagement of our people. When we first started doing so, our rate was below 50 per cent, a great disappointment for me. However, thanks to Telus knowledge in terms of HR area, we have implemented best practices within the company and our 2015 survey showed a 72 per cent engagement rate. As of today, we have 1,100 team members, but we will reach 1,200 by the end of the year."

Although exact figures could not be disclosed, Bidan confessed that the company has grown rapidly on the local market in terms of revenues, seeing by more than 100 per cent increase in 2014, 78 per cent rise in 2015 and 70 per cent growth in the first half of 2016, a pace that should be maintained by the end of the year.

Telus International operates in Romania in 16 to 20 languages, delivering BPO and ITO services, acting also like a shared service centre. Its customer portfolio increased this year to 17 clients from 12 in 2015. Telus International entered on the local market in 2012 by acquiring a majority stake of CallPoint New Europe, a contact centre opened in 2007.

Telus International Europe recently launched the Telus International Romania Community Board, a global Telus corporate social responsibility initiative through which the company will distribute up to 100,000 USD annually to local non-profit organizations in Romania, beginning in 2017.
