Campaign to encourage collection and recycling of aluminium cans is launched in 20 Auchan stores

Can Pack Recycling and the non-profit association Alucro, with the support of Auchan Romania, launched in late June the ‘My mom recycles too!’ (‘Si mama recicleaza!’) campaign, a project designed to encourage recycling aluminium cans among Romanian citizens, according to a press release issued to The Diplomat – Bucharest

2016-08-20 02:38:47 - From the Print Edition

The campaign involves facilitating consumer access to special devices for collecting used aluminium cans located in 20 Auchan hypermarkets in Romania and other key locations. 23 such tech devices have been purchased in total by Can Pack Recycling within the campaign, following an investment of 200,000 Euro. The campaign includes a mechanism to reward consumers who will collect aluminium cans within the devices.
"Protecting the environment can be an abstract notion for some consumers and it is often left to organizations, but it is important that all of us realize that a change for the better depends on each of us," said Dragos Doru, the general manager of Can Pack Recycling, according to the release. "Since habits are learned in the family and the mother is often the role model which we refer to, the ‘My mom recycles too!' campaign wants to be an example of good practice when it comes to the streamline of resources we have. We want the aluminium cans recycling to enter the routine of Romanians."
‘My mom recycles too!' campaign unfolds over a period of one year, between 30 June 2016 and 30 June 2017. Alucro was founded in 2008 by Can-Pack Romania and EAA (European Aluminium Association) in order to promote the collection-recycling system of aluminium cans on the local market. Can Pack Recycling is part of the Can Pack group, the only manufacturer of aluminium cans in Romania and one of the largest worldwide. Auchan Romania has a portfolio of 33 hypermarkets, with 280,000 sqm net sale area, the second retailer in the country, with about 11,000 employees, the fifth private employer in Romania, with a turnover with taxes over one billion Euro in 2015.
