FOREN 2016 Romania event in figures

The main economic and policy makers from Romania and from the Central and Eastern European Countries partiipated in the 13-th edition of WEC Central and Eastern European Regional Energy Forum, FOREN 2016, organized by the Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council between 12-16 June, 2016 in Romania, Costinesti, Vox Maris Grand Resort of Costinesti.

With the subject "Safe and Sustainable Energy for the Region", the four day event joined CEOs and outstanding energy experts and will address important energy issues facing the regional energy community in its transition to a safe and sustainable future.

FOREN 2016 included a wide range of events: 11 Important Events (The Regional Energy Day, Two keynote addresses, (KA), the Energy Trilemma Conference, four Round Tables at Forum Level (RTF), three Workshops at Forum Level (WF), five Technical Sessions, an extensive exhibition space and an interesting technical and touristic programme.

After the event, several major g figures emerged:
-743 participants, out of which 31 from abroad
-Keynote speakers: Minister of Energy, The general secretary representative of World Energy Council, the vice president of Romanian Academy, the General Manager of Electrica, the president of Bilateral Chamber of Commerce of Romania and Kazakhstan, the president of ANRE, the general manager of ANRM, the president of ENGI.
- Expo Foren 2016 joined: 35 exhibition stands of 27 companies from Romania and abroad.
- 10 round tables organized by companies and 52 speakers

FIVE TECHNICAL SESSIONS
-National policies and objectives for energy and environment integration into EU policy: security of supply, energy affordability, renewable energy sources uses, financial mechanisms
-Energy markets: market operation vs. market planning, problems vs. performances, TSO & DSO role in the energy market, Romanian PS operation in the European region
-Energy Efficiency: EE in industry, smart cities, energy conservation/storage, e-mobility & infrastructure
-Oil and gas (conventional and alternative): industry, technologies, economic and safety issues, etc
-Nuclear energy: CANDU reactor, new technologies for Nuclear Power Stations
-Coal and clean coal technologies.

Within the 11 Important Events, a special focus was be laid upon the following topics:
-Energy Union for CEE countries: regional integration and security of supply (Regional Energy Day)
-European policies to promote energy sustainable develooment (KA 1)
-Competition and trade regulation in the European domestic market (KA 2)
-Energy trilemma issues (Energy Trilemma Conference)
-Smart solutions for smart cities (RTF1)
-Fuel mix in the region (RTF 2)
-Oil and natural gas transportation trends in the region (RTF 3)
-Power quality control and monitoring in sustainable energy systems (RTF 4)
-Human resources for energy systems (WF 1)
-Energy efficiency, energy conservation: turning potential into reality (WF 2)
-Research in energy field. Sustainable Energy Financing Facilities. (WF 3).
