PwC appoints new Advisory Leader and promotes two new Partners

Starting with 1 July 2016, Edward Macnamara will become the new leader of the Advisory practice of PwC in South-Eastern Europe, including Romania, replacing Radu Stoicoviciu, who decided to retire from the PwC partnership.

Born in the UK, Edward has worked for PwC for the last 20 years, out of which 18 years in insolvency and business restructuring. He has also spent two years on secondment to North America, and worked on various large restructuring cases in South Africa, Greece, Spain, Sweden and Slovakia.

Edward experience focusses on restructuring across a variety of sectors (retail, oil&gas, steel, ship-builders, chemicals, leisure - hotels and pubs). He worked for banks, advising them on their problem loans, and helped companies restructure their debts. For the last 8 years he has been heavily involved in restructuring large UK and international banks, including a key role in the Lehman Brothers project.

His vast consulting experience will help us significantly deliver practical and innovative solutions to our clients, thus contributing to the growth of their business. He will also focus on the banking sector, helping banks in the SEE region improve their performance, restructure and deal with their non-performing loans portfolios. I am certain that, in the next few years, PwC will contribute significantly to solving this important issue and help restart the loaning activity, which is vital for generating the robust and sustainable economic growth we all want", stated Ionuţ Simion, Country Managing Partner, PwC Romania.

Radu has dedicated his entire career to PwC, managing some landmark transactions for the Romanian market. He will remain close to the PwC family, as an advisor, and I hope that we will find new opportunities to cooperate in the future", added Ionuţ Simion.

PwC Romania also promoted two new partners. Sorin Petre became Partner in the Advisory practice of PwC Romania. Having more than 19 years of advisory experience, Sorin is specialized in financial analysis services, corporate valuations, assets and financial instruments valuations, financial and economic feasibility studies, financial modeling and business plans assistance. He leads the Valuation & Economics team, within Advisory.

Sorin is a Polytechnical University of Bucharest graduate, with a diploma in Electrotechnical engineering, and is a CFA chartholder (Financial Analyst) and FCCA (IFRS Authorized Accountant). He is also member in the Romanian Auditors Chamber and in the Romanian Association of Certified Valuators (ANEVAR), a member of RICS ("Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors") and is a "Recognised European Valuer-REV" by TEGoVA (The European Group of Valuers Associations).

Ionut Sas became Partner in the Tax and Legal Services practice of PwC Romania. Ionut will lead the PwC tax and legal services team for private companies, will coordinate the tax teams in the regional officer of PwC in Romania, and the tax and legal services time for the Telecommunications and IT industries. He has extensive experience in business reorganisation projects, as well as in tax due-dilligence, privatization and investments.

Ionut joined PwC in October 2007. Throughout the years he gained substantial experience in several industries, such as: retail, oil&gas, telecom, building materials as well as fast moving consumer goods.

Between 2010 and 2011, Ionuţ has been seconded to the PwC office in Prague, being involved in regional management activities of PwC in Central Eastern Europe. Ionut is a member of ACCA, as well as the Romanian Chamber of Tax Advisors and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
