bpv Grigorescu Stefanica advised Wienerberger in a new acquisition of brick factory in Buzau

bpv Grigorescu Stefanica advised Wienerberger, the largest producer of bricks and ceramic blocks in Romania, in the latest transaction in which Wienerberger acquired the business related to a brick factory in Berca, Buzau, owned by Search Chemicals, a company with headquarters in Constanta.

The transaction involved the transfer of business which includes the takeover by Wienerberger of the manufacturing facility. bpv Grigorescu Stefanica provided legal advice throughout the transaction process, covering all corporate, real estate, natural resources, labour, commercial, and competition aspects involved in the acquisition process. The team was led by Catalin Grigorescu (Managing Partner) and included Cristina Mihai (Managing Associate) and Andreea Carare (Associate).

The first part of 2016 saw a steep rise in the activity of the M&A practice of bpv Grigorescu Stefanica, the team being involved in the completion of important transactions with regional and international impact, among which the acquisition by Med Life, the Romanian market leader in private healthcare of the majority shareholding in dental clinics group Dent Estet, the $920 million acquisition of Key Safety Systems by the Chinese conglomerate Joyson Electronics, one of the largest automotive transactions so far in 2016, the acquisition by the American technology company Riverbed Technology of the German-headquartered Ocedo. Currently, the team has several other ongoing M&A projects on its table in sectors like banking, construction materials, agriculture, and shipping.
