Only 41 per cent of businessmen in Iasi expect busines growth over 10 per cent in 2016

According to analysis conducted by EY and doinbusiness.ro, only 41 per cent in Iasi, expect a business growth over 10 per cent this year.

2016-04-11 14:36:49

The share is lower than the average in Romania, where 61 percent of business managers show optimism regarding their businesses and countrywide economy evolution, the barometer Business-2more-Business states.

The conclusions emerged following a survey conducted by the two companies and launched in the second half of March this year. The feeling of confidence in economy and business evolution dropped compared to last year, when 55 per cent of respondents in Iasi region stated their opinions on this matter. However, the businessmen in Iasi expect evolution in their industry as 64 per cent from respondents, compared to the average countrywide of 59 per cent respondents expressing their feelings.

Iasi is marked by trends that slightly differ from those expressed nationally - thus locally competitive advantages include the greater affordability (46 per cent of respondents in Iasi compared to 45 per cent nationally) and brand reputation (37 per cent of respondents in Iasi compared to 30 per cent nationally). A competitive advantage perceived strongly growth compared to 2015 and to the national average is the development of trade partnerships with other companies or institutions (43 per cent of respondents in Iasi compared to 31 per cent a year ago and compared to 37 per cent nationally).

"The local market in Iasi region is prudent regarding the enthusiasm shown on the economic development in the future. The region is still affected by the lack of investment in infrastructure, but also by development of local industries, which translates into a GDP far below the one registered in other cities in the country - 6,000 Euro / capita in 2015 to over 10,000 Euro / capita in Cluj and Timis. However, Iasi has a generous labor market as an important academic center, which is why it attracted and continues to attract large employers in the IT and BPO services," says Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner, EY Romania.
