Romania celebrates the National Day
Romania celebrates its national day, also called 1918 Union Day, with military parades and public speeches given by national leaders in cities such as Bucharest and in Alba Iulia- the historical city of the Union. 2015-11-30 17:45:23
Roman's National Day marks the country unification in 1918 and the formation of the Romanian state within its present-day boundaries. Romania's full independence had been recognized in 1878 but it was not until December 1, 1918 in the city of Alba Iulia, when Romania-made of Moldova and Wallachia at the time-was united with Transylvania, Crisana, Banat and the Maramures area. National Day has been celebrated in Romania since 1990, after the fall of the Romanian Communist Party.
According to official data, over 2,600 military representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Internal Affairs, Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), Local Police and other military organisms will participate to the parade to be organized this day.
As last year, the parade will be organized in Constitutiei Square, since the Triumphal Arch (Arcul de Triumf) is still under refurbishment workings. Its consolidation and refurbishment started in 2014 and it was estimated to end in March this year.
