Romania is part of COPA-COGECA

On September 24, Ilias Papageorgiadis, president of ARBIO and vice-president of national federation PRO-AGRO, along wuth Florentin Bercu, general secretary of PRO AGRO, negotiated Romania’s affiliation to the largest European institution, COPA-COGECA, following a discourse taken on Praesidia, the institution’s forum.

COPA currently has 60 full members from the EU Member States and 36 partner organisations, which include representatives of countries like Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. The organization comprises social discussion groups where the representatives of all sectors and affiliated countries present their proposals, debate and agree on final decisions, to further convey to European Commission.

In agriculture sector, the organizations includes 12 dialogue groups, with 774 participants to discussions. COPA-COGECA sends 200 participants while the other 67 organizations send 574.

COPA-COGECA represents the interests of 37 million farmers in Europe and more than 10.000 agriculture associations.
