Bucharest Open Wheelchair Tennis took place between 28 and 30 of August
Bucharest became part of the international tennis competition dedicated to wheelchair players, as part of over 160 international tournaments to take place in 40 countries worldwide.

Bucharest Open Wheelchair Tennis will be hosted by the National Tennis Center in Bucharest and the first edition will feature the ITF Futures Series category. The event is organized by Licinium foundation, in partnership with Romanian Tennis Federation, the major objective being to create a hard nucleus of disabled young people playing performance tennis. The event will take place under the slogan: Performance has no limits, Performance knows no handicap.
The games will be played between 28 and 30 of August at the National tennis Center in Bucharest, at Pierre de Coubertin Blvd.. This year has been declared pre-Olympic year and the objective of Bucharest Open Wheelchair Tennis is to support the qualification of at least one Romanian sportive to the Olympics games to take place at Rio de Janeiro next year.
The games at Bucharest will host 42 sportsmen from 13 countries, with 30 players for Men category, 7 players for Women category and 5 players for Quad. Among the expected international players are the South African player Mariska Venter, Italian Luc Arca, Romanian Flavian Craciun.
