INS: Wholesale trade down 8.1pct in April
The nominal turnover of wholesale trade (except for the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) decreased in April, compared to March by 8.1 per cent in the gross series and by 2.7 percent in the series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, according to the data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The decrease in the turnover of wholesale trade in unadjusted terms was generated by the decline in the wholesale trade of IT and telecommunications equipment (-19.7 percent); of raw agricultural raw materials and livestock (-16 percent); of other products (-11.5 percent); of consumer goods other than foodstuffs (-10.8 percent); of other machines, equipment and supplies (-10 percent), of the non-specialized wholesale trade (-6.8 percent); and of brokerage activities in wholesale trade (-4.8 percent).
On a March basis, the April wholesale trade in foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco increased by 2.5 percent.
Year-on-year, the April turnover in wholesale trade (except for the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles), decreased nominally by 0.3 percent in unadjusted terms, owing to the decrease in the wholesale trade of consumer goods, other than foodstuffs (-13 percent); of other machines, equipment and supplies (-4.1 percent); of brokerage activities in wholesale trade (-1.9 percent); and of other products (-0.7 percent).
In the first four months of 2015, the turnover in wholesale trade (except for the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased nominally compared to the same period of 2014, both in unadjusted terms by 0.8 percent and in terms adjusted to the number of working days and seasonality, by 0.9 percent.
Decreases were recorded by the wholesale trade in consumer goods other than foodstuffs (-4.9 percent) and in other products (-1.1 percent).
The turnover of the market services to enterprises has grown by 8 percent year-on-year in the first four months of 2015, mostly due to the activities in informatics and information technology, transports and not in the least the film production, video and TV programmes, according to data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
From January 1 through April 30 the nominal turnover of the market services targeted mainly at enterprises have also increased by 7.9 percent in the series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality.
According to the INS, as unadjusted series, the turnover on this segment has grown overall by 8 percent, due mainly to the increase recorded in the informatics and information technology services (+23.6 percent), transports (+11.6 percent), other services provided mainly to the enterprises (+4.4 percent), film production activities, video, TV programmes; broadcasting (+3.8 percent) and communications (+1.6 percent).
Likewise, the growth recorded in the turnover of the market services targeted at enterprises, as adjusted series, was owed to activities in the informatics and information technology services (+20.9 percent); transport (+11.1 percent); other services provided mainly to the enterprises (+5 percent), film production activities, video, TV programmes; broadcasting programmes (+3.7 percent); and communication activities (+1.9 percent).
