Romania and Qatar to initiate bilateral agricultural bonds for the first time
Romania’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) Daniel Constantin met on May 24 in Doha, Qatar, with his counterpart, Minister of Environment Ahmad Al-Hemaidi to initiate bilateral relations in agriculture for the first time, according to a press release issued by MADR 2015-06-08 22:00:37 - From the Print Edition

"The talks were aimed at creating a framework to achieve a memorandum of cooperation between Romania and Qatar to initiate bilateral relations in agriculture," read the release, mentioning that there had been no previous agreement on bilateral relations in agriculture so far and that the future agreement will cover research, breeding, vegetable products and horticulture. "Given that Qatar is importing about 90 per cent of its agro-food products, trade can be a solution for developing bilateral relations," said Constantin. "During discussions, we reiterated the idea that Romania will send its first agricultural attaché to Doha to develop an entry point to the Gulf region for Romanian agricultural products." Qatar's Environment Minister renewed the invitation, accepted by the Romanian side, to participate alongside economic agents at the International agriculture fair in November, AGRITEQ 2015, due to be held in Doha. During the visit in late May, Romania's Agriculture Minister Constantin had a meeting with the management of Hassan Food company, also interested in investment and trade.
