Danone announces 2 million Euro invested in new model for sustainable development for deprived communities

This year, the pilot state of social and economic programme A chance for your family and implemented by Danone with Heifer foundation, with the support of investment fund Danone Ecosysteme has been completed with 2 million Euro worth investment.

The programme helped around 500 direct beneficiaries and almost 7.000 indirect beneficiaries while almost 214 milk beef of superior breed have been freely offered to people in three villages: Zimnicea (Teleorman), Cocorastii Colt (Prahova) and Belin (Covasna).

In their turn, the beneficiaries also offered 170 calves, then first born,following the principle of Heifer International foundation: Gift from gift.

The programme launched in 2012 and focused on economically-deprived communities. Danone operates a production facility in Romania where it invested 300 million lei in the last 16 years.
