Recently, the representatives told within a recent The Diplomat conference on VAT stated:

"I have always demanded the reduction of the VAT across the entire chain. I believe Romania needs a courageous government that should run risks, the same as any manager of a private company. Must we run the country without assuming any risks? There are various institutions that can estimate the risk impact. If you do not cut the VAT over the next months, you will cut the VAT for other companies, albeit not Romanian ones, in six or nine months because there will be nobody left to cut the VAT for."

At the beginning of 2014, there were 183 milk production facilities in Romania while at the end of 2014, the number decreased to 130, according to APRIL data. The milk market is estimated locally to 900 million Euro, with main producers Danone, Albalact, Friesland, Olympus, Delaco and Hochland.
