Deloitte Romania Survey: 58.5 percent of businesspeople think Romanian tax system is favorable
Most local businesspeople perceive Romania's tax system as favorable; 58.5 percent of them responded positively to a direct voting opinion poll carried out by Deloitte Romania at their conference on fiscal issues Tax&Legal 2014.

"The poll shows that 58.4 of the business representatives see the tax environment as positive, with major modifications, while 7.8 appreciate it as positive with minor modification," Deloitte Romania fiscal and legal services coordinating partner Dan Badin stated.
Also 24 percent of the respondents think that the tax system had a negative evolution, while 9.1 percent see no changes over the past years. Badin stressed that businesspeople expect clarity, fairness and predictability from the tax decision-makers.
"There is too much work to pay taxes in Romania, and the fight against tax avoidance is not at the level we would like. Tax evasion is currently one third of the companies′ turnover, and if the budget would get this money, there would no longer be necessary to borrow or take loans from the IMF. It′s not necessarily the tax level that is a burden to companies, as much as the fact that the system is unstable and hardly predictable. In my opinion, there won′t be a decision on the new Tax Code until after the November presidential elections," Deloitte representative asserted.
