Runway of Brasov-Ghimbav Airport to be ready in September
The runway of Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport will be ready on September 20, said Aristotel Cancescu, the president of Brasov County Council and the contractor firm representatives. 2014-08-19 14:42:48
"It is the last press conference we organize before the completion of runway works on September 20. We hope there will be no problems caused by bad weather which could prevent us from finishing the works. There will be a tender for movement areas for which we expect offers by August 23. If we have nice weather then we will begin those works too.
In the next period of time there will be talks with two companies, one from Spain and another one from China whose representatives want to see the stage of present works and what else has to be done, Cancescu added.
The airport runway, whose works started in spring 2013, is 2,850 m long and 45 m wide and the building area is of 209 ha. The overall investment is over 50 million euro for the first airport built from scratch in Romania after 1990. 60,000 cubic meters of concrete have been cast, with a daily rate of 400-600 cubic meters, said Sorin Torcica, the contractor representative.
