Siemens takes over a software producer at Brasov
Siemens Romania completed the taking over procedures for Brasov-based software producer LMS Romania. The new company will operate as Siemens Industry Software, as part of a wider transaction in which Siemens AG acquired LMS International (Belgium) at the end of 2012. 2014-07-31 12:34:16
The purchase price for LMS is about 680 million Euro. Prof. Siegfried Russwurm, member of the Board of the Siemens AG and CEO of the industry sector: "The mechatronic simulation will become more and more important for intelligent and competitive product development and production processes. With the acquisition of LMS, we are entering a leading position in this software segment as well and can significantly boost the pace and power of our clients′ innovation ".
LMS has more than 1,200 people and in the first nine months of 2012 generated a turnover of more than EUR 140 million with approximately 5,000 customers in the automotive industry, aerospace and other industries, with a combination of software for mechatronic simulation, testing systems and engineering services. LMS provides a complete software platform for modeling, simulation and testing of mechatronic systems in vehicles, aircraft and other complex products regarding acoustics, vibration, durability and dynamics. Within the customer base of LMS and Siemens, there are strong overlaps. For many customers, the products of both companies have long been in use.
