EY: Local M&A market to grow in coming 18 months, due to transnational transactions
The volume of transactions on the market for mergers and acquisitions in Romania will see a positive trend in the coming 12 to 18 months, especially due to some forecast transnational transactions, such as the sale of some Lafarge-Holcim assets or the sale of Enel distribution and supply companies, shows an analysis made by the EY company. 2014-07-30 14:11:08
According to the data released by EY, in H1 2014, the market for M&A in Romania reacted positively to foreign signals, and the general perception was that of an active market, which is regaining its appeal in investors" eye.
"In Romania, in the first six months, the market was characterized by a higher volume of transactions, with their value having remained in the small to medium area, but the outlook for the next 12-18 months shows the average value will increase, based on some transnational transactions, such as the sale of some Lafarge-Holcim assets or the sale of Enel distribution and supply companies," said Mihai Pop, Transactions Support Services Manager of EY Romania.
He added that, in the analyzed period, 21 significant deals were sealed locally, in areas such as financial services, food, technology, but also in some sectors that are being restructured before a new growth cycle (DIY and construction materials).
"A special mention should receive the real estate sector, where a new wave of interest in properties with high potential has materialized," Pop pointed out.
